MISCELLANEOUS | power distribution in gose dont lie clue and the scoups hoshi minghao dynamic....

lol i wrote all this stuff in my notes one night when i was rlly high just rewatching gose, it was just me trying to chart out how the events in dont lie clue transpired i think...

i have another one to write abt the hoshi joshua seungkwan dynamic from the boomily outing episode too, give me a minute...btw im posting more here rn bc im in the process of putting the spring summer digest together 😭 trying to keep the momentum going ... also ive been stockpiling thoughts and opinions...

so at first hosh amd scoups r just thrust together kind of bc they end up sitting together which makes other ppl realize tht they dont trust them. so they band together, and theyre resolute but for a while flailing bc theyre considered the least trustworthy in the group, so they try recruiting others whove not been adopted into any duo or coalition..they try dk but dk is too worried abt wat their reputation will mean for his gameplay. minghao joins voluntarily and they accept him w open arms. gradually as the game is played its established that scoups is a civilian. this gives him status bc it means tht he's trustworthy. he uses this status to make an extra-coalition alliance w mingyu, which grants him access to dk and others. he is now in the position to judge the trustworthiness of others, call ppl out, etc. this is the reason why hoshi barely ever challenges scoups and sticks by his side for the majority of both of the episodes, he only strays from him once when he mistakenly believes tht scoups may have lied to him and may be the mafia (in which case hoshi couldve overrode his power within their dynamic by outing him). hoshi readily falls in line behind scoups because the path he is cutting thru the game excites hoshi, scoups is fun and authoritative. neither minghao nor hoshi ally w anyone outside the coalition,though hoshi whispers something to woozi at one point and establishes some sort of confidenceship w him which, of course, is not always an indicator of loyalty or trust coming from hoshi, esp not in a game like this.

scoups having multiple outer group alliances puts him in an awk position...he gets a tip from the dk mingyu side that his group mate minghao is a mafia, he conspires w them to check his identity and put a target on his back. minghao is unaware tht he was ever a suspect before scoups attempts to out him to the room. when minghao then takes scoups up for a talk it only takes a few sentences for minghao to completly absolve himself of all charges in scoups' eyes. they have a sort of unshakeable faith and understanding between each other, its kind of beautiful actually lol. anyway once minghao clears himself scoups makes a move to solidify their partnership more firmly, he says tht if their new joint pick for mafia is correct to only tell him. minghao is all for it. hoshi interrupts this from outside the meeting room to put woozi on the chopping block. remember woozi is someone who seemed like an ally to hoshi previously. after the first mafia (who dk discovers) is outted, sc and his other start suspecting hoshi. hes outed from the coalition after this. he, jun, dino and woozi are the outsiders now. sc begins to suspect minghao again as well, saying if its not hoshi or woozi its u. he apologizes for his suspicion too which is telling of his loyalty to minghao i think, and this sort of expression is a very specific kind of leonine gesture of attempted grace/fairness/good will tht ive observed in friends of mine b4 as well lol. like im bout to blow ur spot tf up right now but i still love u bro u gotta understand its in the spirit of the sport...

takeaways:

• bc of scoups' charisma, steadfastness, and certified innocence everybody fell in line w wat he said, of course this being gose and dont lie it didnt matter if it was accurate or not

• all the moments between the big revelatory points in the game r just fine print for hoshi...he only reads it if he thinks he can make a joke out of it...

• seungkwan attempting to form an alliance w dino by nagging him ZHAJAJAHA also seungkwan being the first to say a word against scoups. seungkwans very bullheaded and strong and true to himself throughout most gose activities ive noticed, but in a quiet sort of plain way tht doesnt call attention to him rlly. unless someone decides to start needling him for it.

• toward the end minghao is suspected the least mainly bc he is trusted by scoups, the north star of the game
